Capturing THE VISUALS FOR a Modern Iskelmä Phenomenon
Komiat is a Finnish band that has rapidly risen to become one of the genre’s leading names. Over the past year, the band has gained significant recognition with multiple Emma nominations and a win for Iskelmä of the Year, alongside awards such as Band of the Year and Newcomer of the Year at the Iskelmä Gala. Their growing popularity has taken them from dance pavilions to sold-out concert venues and UMK, an annual music contest organised by the Finnish public broadcaster Yle.
I photographed and designed the artwork for their Emma-winning album, creating imagery that reflects both the band’s roots and their evolving sound.
